Blog Guilt?

I haven’t blogged in a while and feel bad but I had good reason. I was worried that my style and words were becoming stale and uninteresting. A case of blogger’s block perhaps? I could be fancy-smancy and call it writer’s block but I consider this more dabbling than writing. I am not bored or stale about the reason for my blogging, it is my own words that are irritating me. I also read many blogs that put me to shame. They have words, themes, wit, humour and brevity, the last one I am not known for. It makes me want to clamber into a hole and never write again…..

Moan now over. I have mulled for a couple of weeks and have decided to get my head in gear and my fingers on the keyboard. I will (slightly) change my approach. The first step is to remove the ‘header’ portion of my blog as it is off-putting to see the same words at the beginning of every post. If I do my job properly then you will read to the end of the post and *ahem* follow the instructions! If you don’t read to the end of the post then it is my fault for being dull….

The next step is to go back to basics – my apologies for use of that phrase. I blog for a reason and I don’t want that reason to get lost in daft twaddle about tv shows. I’m not saying I won’t post more light-hearted pieces again but I have drifted away from my true intentions for blogging; this is wrong.

So, what is my message after all of these posts? Simple. At any point in time there are children who are hungry, in pain, suffering and crying. Yes, this is true for many adults too but my focus is children. I have no desire to sound twee or preachy but I want you to help children. They will then grow up to be strong and kind adults because of that help. We all complain about the ‘state of the world today’. Isn’t it possible that helping the youngsters out there to be educated and well with a belief in good will make this world a little better one person at a time? I don’t think this overly naive, I don’t think this impossible. Education, good health and a clear understanding of consideration for others is what makes a decent person. I feel that making our next generation a better one is the place to start. So, please consider what child you would like to help. I don’t mind where, I don’t mind how, just please do something and write to me about it.

I close with this:-

  • Donate to a valid children’s charity of your choice.
  • Visit this blog and comment about your donation. Please also tell me what you wanted to be when you were 8. I still want to collect those tales and hope that some child will read about your words and deeds and want to do the same when they are old enough.

I will:-

  • Add your donation to the Totals page on this blog, totals are updated weekly.
  • I will also write some words about the current donations and the charity
  • Store all comments so that everyone can read them.

Thank you for reading.
